Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Senior Fair

Tomorrow is my Senior Fair! Please join me at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Hall D to discover the senior programs and care assistance that is available to you from over 50 vendors. This includes federal, state, and county offices, insurance providers, veterans organizations, community programs and more! Plus you will find legislative updates along with SEPTA Senior Card applications and renewals. 

Doors are open from 10AM to 2PM. We look forward to seeing you there!

PA Primary Election Results

Polls are closed and the votes are in! To find the results of yesterday's primary election you can visit Pennsylvania Elections (pa.gov). The next election will be the General Election on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.

Black Fly Suppression Notice

Tomorrow, April 25th, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be conducting an aerial black fly larviciding operation along the Schuylkill River. The project will occur in targeted portions on the river, between Philadelphia and Reading, applying Vectobac 12AS (also known as B.t.i.) and is only applied to the surface of the water and not sprayed. This work occurs annually and B.t.i. is not toxic to fish or other aquatic macroinvertebrates found in the treated waterways. 

This work does NOT involve a helicopter spraying over the entire county. The helicopter will apply B.t.i. to the water at designated areas every few miles along the treated waterways. Application is done by first circling the area to look for people on the ground or obstructions in the air. Then, the helicopter will fly perpendicular to the water flow (whenever possible) and apply the B.t.i. material which is a brown, viscous liquid with a fish oil odor directly to the water.

Drug Take Back Day - Saturday

This Saturday, April 27th is the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day. Clean out your cabinets and safely dispose of your prescription medications, preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting. The last Drug Take Back Day in 2023 saw 599,897 lbs. of prescription drugs disposed of.
