This is a letter I never wanted to write. And to be honest, I’m still emotionally raw.

On March 28th, America lost one of its greatest statesmen and one of the most humble and virtuous men I’ve ever known — former U.S. Senator, Dr. Tom Coburn. I was honored to lead the Convention of States Project with him by my side for the last 5 years.

Tom regularly referred to his work with Convention of States as, "the most important work of my lifetime,” and viewed Article V as the last hope to see an America with a constitutionally bound federal government, term limited federal officials, and fiscal responsibility as the Founders envisioned.

After serving sixteen years in the House and Senate, Tom realized that Washington D.C. would never fix itself. So he retired early and joined the Convention of States movement to use the Founders solution for government gone wild — Article V.

Tom played a valuable role and helped develop strategies that became proven methodologies, leading to an impressive line-up of victories. As of today…
* 49 states have filed the COS resolution in their state legislature
* 30 states have passed the resolution through at least one committee hearing.
* 23 states have passed the resolution through one entire floor chamber vote.
* 15 states have passed the resolution in its entirety.

But now it’s our job to finish the race.

We are establishing The Tom Coburn Legacy Fund to carry the torch of liberty across the finish line. ([link removed]) In his honor, the fund will help fuel many initiatives developed under Dr. Coburn’s leadership, including... executing on proven legislative strategies, running targeted recruiting campaigns, voter outreach programs, and political canvassing.
