Forces inside the Democratic Party that oppose a progressive policy platform and a fair nomination process would love to see Bernie Sanders drop out of the presidential race.

Here's why: if delegates at this year's convention fail to continue the reforms that we won in 2016, we could be back to business as usual -- on superdelegates, caucus and primary voting rules, party registration, and much more.

If Bernie remains in the race, he will undoubtedly be over the 25% threshold necessary to get enough members on the Rules and Platform Committees who can fight for our vision of a progressive party.

THESE REFORMS, AND OUR MOVEMENT'S PROGRESSIVE PLATFORM (MEDICARE FOR ALL, FOR EXAMPLE, HAS WON IN EVERY STATE SO FAR), ARE VERY POPULAR. IF BERNIE STAYS IN, THEN EVEN IF BIDEN IS THE NOMINEE, WE HAVE A MUCH BETTER CHANCE TO FIGHT FOR A MORE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM AND PRESERVE VITAL REFORMS IN THE PARTY'S NOMINATING PROCESS.

We need to know what you think! Do you think that Bernie Sanders should remain in the Democratic presidential primary race to fight for progressive reform, or do you believe that it is time to unite behind Joe Biden? Let us know here. ([link removed])

The corporate media and many Democratic Party leaders are fine with the nominating process being a coronation, and consider the party merely a platform for fundraising.

Many pundits view the Democratic Party as a vehicle for individual candidates seeking a political career. But in a real democracy, political parties are a place for real debates on the issues to hold candidates and elected officials accountable to the needs of the people.

This is why our movement must continue to move forward with reforming the Democratic Party from the bottom up. Bernie is being pressured from all directions to drop out -- we need to let him know that we have his back if he decides to keep fighting in this race.

What's at stake here is not just the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. We're fighting to build a progressive Democratic Party and elect the next wave of candidates who will turn our platform into policy -- in 2020 and beyond. That's why it's so important that we discuss this right now.

We're all in this together,
