Hi there, it’s Deborah Ross. Just a few months ago, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos used during the IVF process are people — a decision that has imperiled the ability of women to start and grow their families through IVF not just in Alabama, but across the nation.
This extreme ruling could encourage other state governments (including our own) to restrict the reproductive freedom of thousands of women and couples across North Carolina who rely on IVF by enacting similar policies.
That’s why Rep. Jeff Jackson and I are leading the entire North Carolina Democratic delegation in calling for enhanced protections for IVF in federal law. If you agree that we must protect IVF at the federal level, please sign my petition now to demand Mike Johnson bring meaningful legislation to the House floor as soon as possible→
Last month, the Republican Study Committee released its proposed 2025 budget, including provisions that would directly threaten IVF access. Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly have filed the Human Life Protection Act, which endangers IVF access by categorizing an unborn child as a living human being from fertilization to birth.
We can not accept what is yet another attempt by Republicans to control women’s bodies and their ability to have a family. Protecting and ensuring access to IVF for all Americans is critical to defending our reproductive freedom as a whole.
Please add your name to my petition now to stand with myself and the North Carolina Democratic delegation in demanding Congress protect IVF at the federal level:
Thank you,
Deborah
