Samuel --

When I was first elected to the Senate as a 29-year-old kid,
they called me the optimist. But I've got to say, I've never
been more optimistic about America than I am today.

In 2015, we witnessed history with a climate agreement that
will improve the world our kids and grandkids will grow old in.
We saw the tireless work of generations of activists pay off
when the Supreme Court affirmed the simple proposition that
love is love.

And just this month, we saw something of a miracle, Samuel --
Congress coming together and governing by consensus, not
crisis. That's what the American people deserve and expect,
and something we've seen far too little of over the last few
years. We got a transportation bill that's the first certainty of
funding our roads and bridges have had in a decade. We even
got a bipartisan budget passed that will keep the government
from shutting down -- and hopefully prove we can get things
done with Republicans in the next year and beyond.

But Samuel, if I know one thing, it's that there's always more
work to do. If you want to see more progress like this, then we
need to elect Democrats in 2016. I'd love it if you could be one
