Hi John, can I tell you a quick story about this photo? That's me in 1985 — just 24 years old at my law school graduation, fresh off a student research assistant job for Professor Laurence Tribe, thinking that I had just completed the toughest challenge of my academic career. Well, up to that point, anyway. (The bar exam was still a few weeks away). Some years later, I would become an Assistant United States Attorney, and successfully prosecute the first FBI agent charged with espionage, Richard Miller, for spying for the Soviet Union. As a new graduate of law school, I could never have imagined I would handle a case like that. Or that I would later investigate a president who also betrayed our country ... Life leads us in uncertain and fortuitous ways. I’m fortunate that at a time when our country has been in trouble, and our democracy at risk, I have been in a position to help do something about it. In the Senate, I hope to do even more.
