John, the Arizona Supreme Court just ruled that an 1864 abortion ban is enforceable today, in 2024.

This ban -- which was passed before women could vote, and before Arizona was even a state! -- has no exceptions for rape or incest, and even goes so far as to prosecute and jail anyone who aids with abortions. (That includes friends, family, and doctors.)

Anti-choice Republicans were never going to stop at overturning Roe v. Wade. Now, they're trying to reinstate draconian laws from 160 years ago.

To really drive home just how absurd and outdated this ban is, here's what else was going on in 1864:

- The United States was in the midst of the Civil War.
- Arizona was nearly 50 years away from becoming a state.
- Nearly four million people were enslaved in the United States.
- Arizona's age of consent was set at 10 years old.
- Women wouldn't start gaining the right to vote for another half-century.

That's the time period this abortion ban is from.

Arizona is a huge battleground state this year, and EMILYs List women are running for offices up and down the ballot, taking on anti-choice Republicans and fighting for reproductive freedom.

Republicans are trying to send us back to 1864, but we won't let them. Will you donate now to support Democratic pro-choice women running to defend abortion rights?
