To our Neighbors in NY-14,
We hope you’ve been enjoying the spring weather! Last week, our office hosted an inaugural art showcase at the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens to display the artwork of high school students from New York's 14th Congressional District. The pieces were submitted for consideration in this year’s Congressional Art Competition.
The Congresswoman also celebrated the over $1 million in federal funding she secured for the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens in last month’s government spending bill. The funding will construct a new five-story Club in Astoria to meet the growing needs of the Long Island City and Astoria communities. This project will more than triple the size of the building, increasing the number of youth and families that the Club serves each year through a number of programs.
There were 13 other projects that we secured over $12 million in federal funding for last month — check out the full list here.

Earlier this month, we also welcomed Wally Adeyemo, the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, to The Bronx today to share information about Direct File. This new tool allowed New Yorkers and people in 11 other states to file taxes FOR FREE directly with the IRS. Our efforts helped over 100,000 people take advantage of the Direct File pilot program. We’re hopeful that the success of this program will establish Direct File as a permanent, free filing option for people across the country. And if you used Direct File to file your taxes this year, we want to hear from you! Contact our office to share your experience.
