As you may already know, the New Hampshire Senate recently moved to place the Defend the Guard Act under Interim Study without a roll-call vote or any debate.

This decision effectively blocks the bill from moving forward, and it is a direct affront to the integrity of the New Hampshire National Guard and the principles of representative government.

What's more, this decision flies in the face of The Pledge that many of our legislators have taken, which includes the promise to "vote to protect New Hampshire's rights and oppose federal overreach."

By turning their backs on The Pledge and failing to stand up for the safety and sovereignty of our state's National Guard, these senators have failed their constituents and the Constitution.

We are now ACTIVELY recruiting candidates and volunteers to help replace the spineless politicians in the State Senate who have failed the Granite State.

We need leaders who will stand up for our state's rights and the well-being of our brave men and women in uniform.

The Defend the Guard Act is crucial in ensuring that New Hampshire National Guardsmen are not deployed into unauthorized combat zones, participating in wars without the consent of their representatives.

The argument that the federal government would withhold federal funding of the National Guard in response to the passage of this bill is unfounded and has been publicly refuted by multiple members of Congress.

It is unacceptable for our state's legislators to choose between defending the lives of our soldiers and ensuring a steady flow of federal dollars. We reject the notion that the lives of our Granite Staters should be put at risk for financial gain.

The United States Congress has not voted to declare war since World War II, resulting in endless war, hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded Americans, and a decline in the rule of law and representative government.

We must stand together to hold our elected officials accountable and ensure that the rights and safety of our state and its residents are protected.
