Learn more about the Chance to Come Home campaign & our deported advocates on NPR's "Here and Now."

Live from Los Angeles, we will delve into the challenges faced by people dealing with deportation in the U.S. immigration system and their efforts to reunite with their families. Our special guests include:

  • Howard Bailey, a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Desert Storm and faced unjust deportation to Jamaica. After ten years of exile, he recently returned in 2021 and reunited with his family.
  • Ahilan Arulanantham, a MacArthur Fellow, professor, renowned immigration expert and Faculty Co-Director of The Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) at the UCLA School of Law.
  • Sarah Hamdi, sister of deported leader Tina Hamdi who was torn from her two young children through deportation after surviving domestic violence despite receiving DACA.
  • Alex Rivera, a MacArthur Fellow, award-winning filmmaker, and professor at Arizona State University.
  • Nayna Gupta, event moderator and NIJC Associate Director of Policy

At a time when anti-immigrant rhetoric has heightened in America's national discourse, these advocates and artists are reclaiming the narrative on immigration. Join us for this rare and unique presentation and to be part of a conversation on the future of immigration in the United States.
