** Rwanda policy is an awful indictment of UK
------------------------------------------------------------

**
------------------------------------------------------------

** I voted against the UK Government's legislation to send migrants and asylum seekers Rwanda. It was shocking to see the UK vote for such a hideous piece of legislation which targets and punishes some of the most vulnerable people on earth.
------------------------------------------------------------

** This policy has been promoted by the UK Government as a clear attempt to weaponise immigration and whip up prejudice in the run-up to the General election and I will continue to speak out and oppose it.

This policy has so far cost the taxpayer £400m and not a single person has gone through the system. An incredibly expensive gimmick.

The more substantive point on this is that it won't work. The "illegal" migration problem has been created by this UK Government who have stopped legal means of seeking sanctuary in the UK.

** WASPI women need to be compensated now
------------------------------------------------------------

** There are more than 3,000 women across my constituency who have lost out due to the UK Government's botched handling of increases to the pension age.

Now the recommendations of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman have been published. The SNP is campaigning for full compensation for women affected but as yet, the current Tory UK Government and the expected incoming Labour UK Government have both refused to commit to implementing the findings and pay the compensation due.

This Friday I'm running an event alongside the WASPI campaign and Age Scotland to update women on the process from now, what action we can take together to build pressure on the UK Government and what additional financial support is available for those who have lost out.

** UK needs to act on district heating bills now
------------------------------------------------------------

** I've now written to UK Ministers twice to press for urgent action to end the discrimination against those using district heating systems. After meeting with residents in Greendykes and hearing how their heating bills were going up by 500% overnight, I've been campaigning to end the loophole which excludes around 500,000 households across the UK from the energy price cap.

The UK Government has yet to respond but this is a problem they've know about for years and done nothing to resolve the situation. For the last year district heating systems have been covered by the Energy Bill Discount Scheme but that ended last month with seemingly no plan from the Government on replacement support or protections. They need to act immediately and I'll continue to push for this until they do.

** Action on Peffermill antisocial behaviour
------------------------------------------------------------

**
------------------------------------------------------------

** I'm coordinating with residents, police, housing and community safety to get action on antisocial behaviour issues at Peffermill. Residents are reporting repeated vandalism and safety issues in communal stairs and other threats to their safety.

Following residents getting in touch I'm organising a public meeting to identify all issues and seek a response form the police. I know work has been done locally by the authorities but residents are reporting a significant increase in attacks on cars and items in communal stairs being broken or stolen.

It's simply unacceptable for residents to live in fear and I'll do everything I can to help, including linking in with youth groups who can help create a unified community.

I also send more in depth updates about the dreadful continuing war in Gaza, including my work with SNP colleagues and those MPs cross-party who are trying to exert pressure to halt arms sales and work towards long-lasting peace.
