Here are some of the most popular and time-sensitive petitions from Daily Kos, the largest online gathering space for progressives.
-
Sign the petition: The GOP must end the baseless Biden impeachment
TARGET: House Republicans
The House GOP’s “highly credible source” who served as a basis for their impeachment inquiry into President Biden has now been charged for lying and falsifying those claims against the president and his son, Hunter. This was never a serious investigation. Time for it to end.
-
Sign if you agree: No one—not even a former president—is above the law
TARGET: United States Supreme Court
Donald Trump doesn't get it. Despite facing four indictments and 91 criminal charges, he still believes he's covered by presidential immunity.
-
Sign the petition: Rename a prison after Trump instead of an airport
TARGET: Congress
GOP lawmakers are pushing to immortalize Donald Trump by renaming the Washington Dulles International Airport after him. In response, Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), Gerry Connolly (D-VA), and John Garamendi (D-CA) have introduced legislation that fittingly reflects Trump's legacy. Their bill proposes renaming the federal prison in Miami, Florida, to the Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.

Sign the petition: Term limits for the Supreme Court now!
TARGET: Congress
The Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act of 2023 has been introduced in Congress. The TERM Act would introduce fixed 18-year terms for current and future Supreme Court justices and establish regular nominations of justices in the first and third years of each presidential term–a necessary, fair, and accountable reform to the judicial system.
-
Sign and send the petition to Congress: End felony disenfranchisement
TARGET: Congress
It’s time to ensure every citizen has a voice in our democracy. A new bill called the Inclusive Democracy Act would do just that, restoring full voting rights in federal elections to all Americans with felony convictions.
If you agree it’s time to ensure every American has an equal say in our democracy, click through and sign and send a petition urging your members of Congress to co-sponsor and pass the Inclusive Democracy Act.
-
Sign if you agree: Make billionaires pay their fair share in taxes
TARGET: Congress
Democrats in Congress have introduced two bills to rectify the growing wealth gap in our country exacerbated by an unfair tax system.
The Billionaire Income Tax, introduced by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, aims to close the loopholes that allow billionaires to avoid paying taxes by targeting the unjust "buy, borrow, die" strategy. With this strategy, billionaires acquire appreciating assets (buy), and then they borrow against these assets to fund lavish lifestyles without incurring tax (borrow). Later, their wealth is passed down, often tax-free (die), perpetuating inequality.
Representatives Steve Cohen and Don Beyer have also reintroduced the Billionaire Minimum Income Tax Act. This act proposes a 25% minimum tax rate on households worth more than $100 million–a base level of taxes every year.

Sign the petition: Protect abortion and reproductive freedom. Repeal the Comstock Act now!
TARGET:Congress
The rise in medication abortions post-Roe has ignited new strategies in the conservative fight to eliminate all abortion access by any means necessary, including removing access to abortion pills.
The Comstock Act, a relic passed in 1873 and largely ignored for decades, has been revived by anti-abortion extremists as a dangerous weapon. A radical interpretation of the Act could criminalize the shipping of any abortion-related materials, including medication and medical equipment, which would effectively ban all abortion care in the United States.
-
Sign and send the petition: Protect vote by mail from Louis DeJoy now
TARGET: USPS Inspector General, USPS Board of Governors, and the Postal Regulatory Commission
The 2024 election is rapidly approaching, yet DeJoy hasn’t announced any safeguards to protect vote by mail -- while continuing to march full steam ahead with his privatization plan.
It’s time for the USPS Inspector General, USPS Board of Governors, and the Postal Regulatory Commission to step in, stop Louis DeJoy and protect vote by mail immediately.
-
Sign the petition: Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment
TARGET: Congress
The ERA–an amendment to the U.S. Constitution designed to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens, regardless of sex–can still happen. It was passed through Congress with well over the required two-thirds majority vote and sent to the states in 1972. Virginia voted to become the 38th state to adopt the amendment in 2020, the last needed to meet the three-quarter state ratification requirement.
However, prior to ratification, Congress set an arbitrary deadline for states’ ratification votes. As a result, the ERA’s ratification was blocked. Right now, Congress can pass resolutions to remove the deadline, certify the ERA, and send it to the archivist to publish it as the 28th Amendment.

Sign the petition to news networks: Do not give election deniers a platform
TARGET: Television news networks
If you can’t tell the truth from fiction, you shouldn’t be given a news platform. Election deniers have no business appearing on any legitimate news outlet. Journalism is reporting the facts–not propping up a lie that is one of the reasons our democracy is teetering on the edge as we get closer and closer to the 2024 general election.
-
Sign the petition to Congress: Protect Social Security by making the wealthy pay their fair share!
TARGET: Congress
In a nation built on fairness and equality, the current state of Social Security funding is neither fair nor sustainable. While 94% of American workers contribute to Social Security throughout the year, high income earners stop contributing after just a few months, weeks, days or even hours. This discrepancy undermines the very foundation of the Social Security system, a program designed to provide security and dignity to millions of Americans in retirement.
-
Sign the petition to Congress: Pass clean energy transmission legislation
TARGET: Congress
Right now, there are at least 2,000 gigawatts of renewable energy waiting for permission to connect to power lines in the United States, which is more than the total capacity of the country’s existing power plants. Wait times to connect new power plants to the grid can reach five years or more. Without rapidly improving transmission, the United States will not be able to achieve Biden's goal of 100% clean energy by 2035 or provide cheaper, more reliable electricity to American households. If the United States can’t build new transmission at a faster pace, roughly 80 percent of the emissions reductions expected from the Inflation Reduction Act–the largest climate legislation in U.S. history–might not happen.
-
Sign the petition: We need postal banking
TARGET: Congress
One service that could not only strengthen the United States Postal Service (USPS) and generate new revenue, but also serve individuals underserved by private institutions, is postal banking. Postal banking is simply the provision of financial services via the USPS. By allowing consumers to open a bank account at their post office, postal banking could help over 7 million American households that are unbanked—meaning they lack access to a checking account or basic financial services.
-
Sign if you agree: A vote for Trump is a vote against our democracy's survival
TARGET: American voters
The twice-impeached disgraced former president, Donald Trump, is still running for president in 2024. We CANNOT allow an individual with such a record to return to the Oval Office — casting a vote for Trump is essentially voting against the very survival of our democracy.
-
Sign if you agree: Decriminalize Marijuana!
TARGET: Congress
To celebrate 4/20, we are urging Congress to pass the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. This pivotal legislation represents a significant step towards rectifying the historical injustices caused by the War on Drugs, specifically those related to the criminalization of marijuana.
-
Sign the petition: University costs are too high! Higher education needs reform to reduce tuition costs.
TARGET: State governments, the federal government, and institutions of higher education
The current trajectory of increasing college tuition is unsustainable. To ensure that higher education remains accessible and affordable, a multifaceted approach is needed. This approach should address the root causes of tuition inflation, such as the lack of state funding and the competitive pressures that drive up costs. Additionally, reevaluating the structure of financial aid and the impact of federal assistance on tuition prices could mitigate the rapid growth in costs.
