In 2018, the Paradise wildfire burned through 150,000 acres of wildlife. It forced over 52,000 Californians to evacuate, destroyed over 18,000 buildings — including 9,000 homes — and is now regarded as the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. in recent history.
When catastrophe hit our district, Jessica Morse didn’t turn her back. When the news broke, she got in her car and drove 96 miles straight to the heart of the inferno and volunteered to help.
Just a year later, Jessica was appointed Deputy Secretary for Forest and Wildland Resilience at the California Natural Resources Agency, working on the frontline of California’s wildfire crisis and fast-tracking wildfire prevention efforts.
And in 2022, Jessica was appointed to the U.S. Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission, helping develop recommendations and strategies to reshape national wildfire policies.
Friend, anyone can tell you they’ll tackle the climate crisis in Congress. But throughout her career, Jessica Morse has consistently fought on the frontlines to combat the rising threat of climate change with aggressive and comprehensive policies to protect Californians from the growing threat of mega-fires like Paradise.
That’s why in honor of Earth Week, we’re asking you to join Jessica’s growing list of climate champions to support her campaign for Congress. Will you take a moment to add your name and let us know you’re a climate voter ready to send Jessica to protect our people, our planet, and California’s beautiful environment in Washington?
Before he was in Congress, Kevin Kiley used his position in our state legislature to vote against critical and potentially life-saving wildfire relief funding. And in a state where wildfires are becoming larger and deadlier, it really doesn’t get much more out of touch than that.
While Kevin Kiley continues turning his back on California’s wildfire crisis, Jessica has and will continue confronting the problem head-on — both as a civilian and as your next congresswoman.
California’s wildfire crisis isn’t some political talking point. To Jessica, keeping Californians and our environment safe from mega-fires is a matter of being a good steward of the land and the community. We hope you’ll add your name today so she can take her fight to Congress.
Thank you — and happy Earth Week, team! 🌎
