When I decided to run for Senate against Republican Deb Fischer, my campaign team started asking me really personal questions. Did I have any skeletons in my closet? Anything scandalous that might come out? I told them the truth: No one is perfect, but let Mitch McConnell go digging. He’s not going to find anything interesting.

Still, they warned me: “Politics is a blood sport.” It doesn’t matter if it is true or not… McConnell and his Super PACs will make up lies and say downright awful things about me on every TV across the state. I should prepare myself – and my family – for what will come.

Now, with the first poll of the race showing me LEADING Republican Deb Fischer by 2 points in this critical Senate race, I know they’re right. The attacks are about to get nasty – even if it is all made-up.

Deb Fischer and Mitch McConnell are going to spend millions running ridiculous ads attacking me because they’re afraid. They know what we know: We can defeat Republican Deb Fischer and win this Senate seat. And that scares the hell out of them. They know I’ll be the 51st vote in the Senate for working people.

I’m facing a federally-mandated FEC fundraising deadline at midnight tomorrow, and if Mitch McConnell senses even one shred of weakness in our public fundraising report, his Super PACs are going to pounce with attacks to try to bury us before this race even gets started.
