Team —

Republicans are trying to take women’s reproductive rights and put them in a time machine, back to the 1800s. And I’m not exaggerating — let me explain:

Earlier this month, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that a law from 1864 banning abortion can be enforced. For some perspective, Arizona wasn’t even a state back in 1864. It was a territory, and about 900 people voted in their election (all white men, of course).

Meanwhile, the GOP policy architects behind Trump’s platform are planning to use the Comstock Act , an outdated law from the 1870s , to ban abortion outright. By banning the mailing of abortion medications like mifepristone, as well as the medical equipment doctors need to perform abortions, a new Trump administration could legally make abortions nearly impossible .

This is scary. In the years since the right-leaning activist Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade , we’ve sounded the alarm bells that the anti-abortion movement would continue to come after reproductive rights. And it’s happening.

We need to take swift action to defend abortion access. Because if we leave it up to Trump and the MAGA movement, abortion will be outlawed across the country.

That’s why I’m leading the charge to repeal the Comstock Act — before it’s misused by the GOP to enact a national abortion ban.
