Hi John,
Two weeks ago, the Biden-Harris administration announced new federal groundwater standards for PFAS in drinking water, which was fantastic. Last week came another heartening update! The Biden-Harris Administration designated PFOA and PFOS as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability ACT (CERCLA), also known as Superfund.
You might recall, conservation voters like you helped make this happen. Members signed a petition urging the administration to take this important step, and your voices were heard! This designation means ensuring environmental health for the public while simultaneously holding corporate polluters accountable for their decades long abuse.
A huge thank you to our partners at S.O. H20 [[link removed]] . Their commitment to cleaning up drinking water in their communities has been instrumental in making PFAS pollution a statewide and national issue. Check out S.O. H20 [[link removed]] charter member Cindy Boyle on PBS talk about PFAS and this issue. [[link removed]]
There’s still work to do here in Wisconsin. The Joint Finance Committee still refuses to release already approved funding to address PFAS. Last week, Gov. Evers called a special meeting to urge legislators to take action on behalf of the people of Wisconsin [[link removed]] . Unfortunately, no Republican legislators attended. If you haven’t yet, please take action here [[link removed]] to urge the JFC to prioritize people’s health over corporate polluters.

Thanks for being a conservation voter,
