John, my name is Hope Nuzback. I’m a shooting survivor, future educator, and the President of Future Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence at Penn State.

I’m reaching out because I’m a part of the future of education in America, and I need your help. Firearms have been the leading cause of death for children in the United States for the past three years.

But I know things can change – because I see Teachers Unify making it happen. This non-profit was created by teachers who believe WE ARE agents of change. I formed the Future Teachers Unify chapter at Penn State to bring that same passion and energy here, and help future teachers be as prepared as we can be.

I know now better than ever that this work requires significant amounts of fundraising, John. So, I’m asking personally: Will you donate $25 to empower current and future educators against the challenges of the gun violence epidemic? >>

As a preservice teacher, I’ve already had students impacted by gun violence. Just like my mother, a teacher of 28 years, has. Just like millions more teachers across the country have. None of us have escaped it.

This is emotionally draining, incredibly personal – and not something we are trained for, John.

But it doesn’t have to be like this. That is why educators and future educators are joining together with Teachers Unify to advocate for change – because enough is enough, and together, WE ARE more than powerful enough to make change. We just need the resources to keep up our fight.
