We all saw the chaos caused when an Alabama Supreme Court ruling earlier this year nearly banned access to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) in that state for weeks. But even after that, extremist Republicans are still trying to enact similar bans across the country.

I’d been warning this could happen for years — even before the United States Supreme Court’s disastrous Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade — because I knew that Republicans’ decades-long campaign to rob women of their right to make decisions about their own healthcare and their own bodies would eventually threaten IVF access.

And that’s exactly what is happening, folks.

Make no mistake: Alabama's ruling—and court rulings in Arizona and Florida that have opened the door to restrictive and even near-total abortion bans in those states—wouldn’t have been possible without Donald Trump’s successful push to appoint the kind of extremist MAGA Supreme Court justices who he knew would overturn Roe.

I’m proud to be leading the effort to pass legislation that would safeguard IVF access nationwide, but I can’t do it alone. To fully protect our freedoms, we need to stop Donald Trump and his extreme agenda. And that means we need to defend and expand our majority in the Senate, win back the House, and send President Biden back to the White House. And Lisa Blunt Rochester will help us do just that.
