1 in 3 women experiences intimate partner or sexual violence. Violence tends to increase during epidemics. Here are 5 ways you can help. Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month "1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner or sexual violence by any perpetrator in their lifetime," the World Health Organization (WHO) reports. "Violence against women tends to increase during every type of emergency, including epidemics." 5 Ways to Take Action Against Violence As we continue to take a digital approach for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), one of our busiest outreach months, we need your help to engage our community and reach survivors who need support. Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7th is the National Day of Action. Here are 5 ways you can take action, from home, even with kids, starting now! 1) Join us for story time at noon Join us at 12:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 7th on Facebook Live for Storytime with Doorways. In honor of the National Day of Action, we will be reading C is for Consent, and providing discussion questions. RSVP on Facebook for an event reminder. 2) Teach your children about consent Parents and caregivers can use teachable moments in daily life to model consent for their children. Learn more in this handout. Watch Video 3) Fundraise to support survivors Raise awareness about the services Doorways provides and rally support for survivors at the same time. Create a fundraiser on Facebook or Instagram in just a few simple steps. Learn More $100 can help provide trauma-informed therapy for a survivor of sexual assault $50 can provide fresh set of clothing and a welcome kit for a survivor $25 can help provide court advocacy for a survivor's protective order petition process 4) Wear teal (the official color of sexual assault awareness and prevention) and post a selfie No teal in your closet?
