** The World's First Non-Profit AI Lab for Immigrant Justice

------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

Today Justicia Lab ([link removed]) is proud to announce the launch of Justicia Lab AI ([link removed]) , a new initiative to bring together immigrant advocacy groups and AI innovators in the service of immigrant justice.

Our challenges as a movement are vast and the traditional tools to deliver support and safety to the millions of immigrants in need of representation have proven insufficient. From instantaneous interpretation to plain language legal explanations and more, artificial intelligence offers us the potential to bridge the justice gap like never before. As Artificial Intelligence brings transformative changes to our world, immigrant advocates need a trusted mission-based technology partner to help them harness these new technologies to accelerate justice. Enter Justicia Lab AI.

The Justicia Lab AI initiative seeks to bridge the tech divide between immigrant-serving organizations and developers of AI technology by delivering public education and workshops on AI, providing information on the ethical and practical considerations in using AI technologies, and co-designing practical AI solutions.

Justicia Lab AI is supported with $500,000 in seed funding from Google.org ([link removed]) as well as technical capacity, mentorship, and pro bono support delivered through Google.org’s inaugural Gen AI Accelerator for nonprofits ([link removed]) .

While there is deserved distrust about the potential harm posed by AI, there is also a need for greater understanding on how AI can be beneficial in helping immigrants navigate America’s ever changing immigration policy landscape.

To address these challenges, Justicia Lab AI will focus in on three key areas:

* Promoting the Responsible Use of AI
* Delivering Public Education & Workshops on AI
* Co-Designing & Prototyping AI Solutions

The first event in our series of public education programs will take place on Thursday May 9th with a webinar on Empowering Advocacy: Introduction to AI for Immigrant Justice. ([link removed])
