Did you hear about this, John? Last week, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled to revert back to an 1864 abortion ban – in effect, a total ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Extreme bans like this are a dangerous relic from 160 years ago – they increase rates of maternal mortality, force women to terminate their pregnancies outside of the healthcare system, and put countless women’s lives at risk.
Arizona might be thousands of miles from Maine, but it’s just another example of how extremism and partisanship cost lives. Extremism hurts our communities when judges and legislators decide to let the government interfere with a decision that should be between a woman, her family, and her doctor.
Angus supports access to reproductive healthcare — not just because the majority of Maine people also support choice, but because standing up for individual rights and freedoms is just the right thing to do.
We want to be clear: Angus will always support a woman’s right to choose. In the U.S. Senate, Angus continues to sponsor and vote for legislation to codify Roe and protect access to abortion medication.
John, unfortunately not every candidate has the same record of supporting reproductive rights that Angus does. This November we have a chance to re-elect a staunch pro-choice champion — a candidate with a proven track record of always standing with women — but we need your help. Will you pitch in just $ or $ now to help re-elect a proven pro-choice champion? [[link removed]]
