Hi John,

Last weekend marked 25 years since the Columbine High School shooting. In the days that followed, the NRA deliberated how to respond. Their annual convention was scheduled just mere days after one of the nation’s deadliest school shootings, just a few miles away from where 13 people died and 21 were injured. They held it anyway.

Decades later, recordings of the deliberations showed that the NRA could have been part of the solution to end gun violence but instead decided to proceed with “thoughts and prayers” and business as usual. In the recordings, they could be heard bragging that conservative politicians were their pawns who would do whatever the NRA wanted.

Twenty-five years later, the NRA is still using conservatives as their pawns, and after each deadly and preventable shooting, they continue spouting their signature line: “Now is not the time for politics, we need to let people heal.”

People cannot heal when the onslaught continues day after day, and the NRA repeatedly skirts any responsibility or accountability for the deadly use of firearms.

March For Our Lives is committed to holding the NRA accountable and organizing our way to a future without gun violence. This year, we will mobilize young people to the polls, vote out the politicians in the NRA’s pocket, and elect representatives who will be champions for gun safety legislation.

Our electoral strategy bumped our 2024 budget up 32% to power our teams to rise to the challenge. Please pitch in a donation of $10 or whatever you can to equip our crew on the ground to get out the youth vote and elect leaders who are on our side in the fight to end gun violence.
