EarthDay-1 ([link removed] )

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) looked into fossil fuel subsidies and found that, in 2022, EU governments spent over 400,000,000,000 € (400 billion) on fossil fuel subsidies – including tax breaks for jet fuel and corporate perks.

All this, while the effects of climate crisis and environmental destruction have become tangible, with extreme weather events threatening our lives and livelihoods. In 2023, our Earth was already on average 1.47 °C warmer than pre-industrial levels.

So why do we keep subsidising this destruction? This Earth Day, 22 April, we want to raise our voices together, across Europe, to demand an end to fossil fuel subsidies within a year. Government subsidies should be used to fuel our future, not for setting our planet on fire.

Play your part by posting the video on your channels with the hashtag #StopFossilSubsidies. Because when it comes to protecting our Earth - there is no time to wait.
