John,

Indonesia’s Tapanuli orangutans are THE most threatened ape in the world
– only a few hundred are left. Now, a gold mine is destroying their only
habitat, threatening to wipe them into extinction.

But there's hope! Norway's Pension Fund – the largest sovereign wealth
fund *in the world* – just announced it will divest from the companies
responsible for this heartbreaking habitat destruction.

This is a massive win, and could be the turning point we need to force
decision-makers at other financial institutions to follow suit – and stop
investing in this deadly project!

That's where we come in. We’re ready to launch an emergency response
team – exposing other funds fueling the orangutans' demise, launching
hard-hitting campaigns demanding divestment, and turning up the heat on
pension fund managers to act.

Can you chip in to make it happen and help save Tapanuli orangutans from
extinction?

Tapanuli orangutans were only discovered relatively recently, living on
just 475 square miles of upland forest in Sumatra, Indonesia. These highly
intelligent creatures are our close relatives – they share 96.4% of our
genes!

Fewer than 800 are believed to be left in the wild, and the species’
chance of survival decreases every single day as operators of the Martabe
gold mine continue to clear more and more of the precious forest.

But divestment by Norway's Pension Fund gives us a huge opportunity to
push other funds to follow.

If we can raise enough, first we’ll launch urgent research to expose the
billions of dollars locked in our pensions and retirement funds that are
fueling the orangutan-killing gold mine. Then, we’ll use that intel to
ramp up the pressure on key fund managers to follow Norway’s lead and
starve the mining company from the capital they desperately need to fuel
this habitat destruction.

This is our best chance to save the Tapanuli orangutan…but we have to act
quickly, before they’re gone forever. John, can you donate
just a little to save the species?

Thanks for all that you do,
Allison and the Ekō team
