Hi there,
Last month, we asked you to share your stories about the out-of-control costs of prescription drugs. We can't begin to thank you enough for what you've written.
Here are just a few of the many stories you shared with us:
"I don’t have health insurance, so I have almost no health care. Every 6 months I scrape up enough to see a primary care doctor, and don’t have any labs or tests done, just to get high blood pressure medicine. I do insist upon whatever is cheapest that may work."
— Laure
"As a diabetic for 59 years, I remember when insulin was $10 a vial. Now, thanks to insurance, I can still get a vial...for $389! If not for the ACA, I couldn’t get it."
— Karen
"My blood pressure drugs are well covered by my Medicare Advantage Plan. However, four other medications prescribed by specialists are Tier 4 drugs. For one of them, I had my doctor prescribe a higher dosage and I purchase off-plan. I cut the tabs in half and pay less than 1/4 of what my plan's copay would be. Three of my medications I choose to do without rather than pay such high copay costs. It would be nice if I could benefit from what the specialists recommend for treatment rather than needing to choose based on costs."
— John
