Fellow Conservative —

On Saturday, I voted NO on a series of unpaid foreign aid bills totaling $100 billion and the rule allowing their consideration on the floor. Most notably, the omnibus-style foreign aid package failed to include border security provisions.

The House GOP Majority was won two years ago with a clear charge from the American people to check the Biden Administration that has left our southern border in crisis and completely exposed to foreign nationals, violent gangs, and fentanyl trafficking cartels.

Texans I represent and Americans across the country are adamant that we secure our border first, and that is non-negotiable. I have worked around the clock to advance border security policies, including passing HR 2, the strongest border security legislation in modern history.

I promised my constituents I would fight for them with every tool I have and push my colleagues to do the same. To date, House Republicans have failed to leverage our majority in key moments and hold the Biden Administration accountable for their failures.

Republican Leadership negotiated this package from a position of capitulation to the Swamp and fell back on broken legislative processes to force through these bills – including a head fake vote on a border bill doomed for failure.

All-or-nothing legislating leaves members in conflict with principles and policies they may support, such as my strong desire to help Israel defend itself from terror states who wish them harm. While parts of this $100 billion package were directed toward Israel, it also funneled $9 billion dollars to Gaza, aid that will inevitably flow to the Hamas regime and NGOs actively targeting the IDF and undermining Israel.

The current posture and gamesmanship displayed by Congressional Republicans are not new, it demonstrates three-plus decades of acquiescence on essentially every issue besides tax cuts.

The American people are overwhelmingly with us on the issues: border security, spending, and weaponization of government. We must shed the fearful conventional wisdom in Washington and lead boldly with freedom and American security at the forefront.

House Republicans promised to change things in Washington, and I for one will not stop until we do. This is the beginning, not the end. We will break the back of the uniparty and return this country to the hard-working Americans being taken for granted.
