Self-Governance is alive and well in Washington State! We are happy to share that on April 20th, 2024, Semi Bird made history by becoming the first Black American candidate ever to be endorsed by any political party in Washington State for the office of Governor. This incredible achievement was backed by a super majority vote, with 72% of the statewide delegates showing their support, thus paving the way to the official endorsement of the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP).

This endorsement occurred during the largest WSRP Convention ever held, with 1,830 delegates coming together from every county and community in the state to cast their votes. This was a convention to remember, as delegates brought passionate discussion in support of party platforms, candidates, and resolutions.

This endorsement is more than just a political win. *The super majority vote for party endorsement by the statewide delegates is a true indicator of who will win the republican vote in the primary.
