Sometimes climate change can feel like it’s such a big issue that it’s hard to feel like we can do anything about it.
But here’s a shocking stat… just 57 fossil fuel and cement producers account for 80% of global fossil fuel emissions since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015. Yep, if we just got these 57 companies to reduce their emissions, we could have a huge impact.
In reality, the solutions to the climate crisis aren’t that difficult or complex. We simply need to reduce the number of carbon emissions we’re polluting into the atmosphere. The reason that it feels more complicated than that is because anti-climate propaganda (a lot of which has come from these 57 companies) has stoked fears that taking action is too expensive or too burdensome. But the truth is actually the opposite. Taking action today will SAVE money, SAVE lives, IMPROVE health, and PROTECT the planet.
But the problem has been getting consensus in Congress against Republicans who believe climate change is a hoax, and countries around the world who haven’t made this a priority. Thankfully, we’ve made a lot of progress over the last decade. However, we have to hold these big polluters accountable if we’re going to turn the trends around.

Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
