John,
As we celebrate Earth Day, we are proud to share that our city
continues to lead in climate action and sustainability!
Here in San Francisco, we have always been at the forefront
of progress. From launching the nation’s first mandatory composting
program nearly three decades ago to achieving a remarkable 48%
reduction in carbon emissions from 1990 levels by 2020 – we are taking
bold action on climate change.
Unlike the broader goals set by the
United States for 2050 and California for 2045, San Francisco has made
a commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2040!
Our ambitious San Francisco Climate
Action Plan includes 174 strategies that not only address
environmental impact but also ensure that every San Franciscan
benefits from our green initiatives – supporting
housing, enhancing public transit, ensuring clean air, and expanding
access to nature.
These are important steps
forward – but there’s a lot more work ahead. Team Breed is reaching
out to key supporters today to ask what climate action initiatives you
think will make the biggest impact on the lives of San
Franciscans.
It’s important to keep the conversation about climate action
going and we’re eager to hear what matters most to you on this
issue.
Please take a moment to
respond with your thoughts and we’ll share them with the
Mayor.
This Earth Day, as we kick off our second annual SF Climate
Week, we invite each of you to play an active part in our city's
environmental journey. Your engagement is crucial as we forge a path
toward a resilient, carbon-free future.
Together, we can continue to set
global benchmarks for environmental responsibility and innovation.
Let's celebrate this Earth Day with action and commitment to our
planet's future.
Thank you for your continued
support and dedication to making San Francisco a leader in climate
action.
–
Team London Breed
