Today is my mothers' birthday (both of them). I feel so blessed to celebrate my birth mother and my earth mother on the same day. They have both been powerful teachers in my life, not so much with fancy words or wisdom, but with action. My mom shows me who she is everyday by what she does, by how she chooses to live and love, by how she cares for the people all around her. A nurse by trade and a caregiver by purpose, my mom trades on care and cooking and being there for people - a currency so essential that it has ensured the survival of communities for centuries while being grossly undervalued (if not excluded by the GDP). Both mothers remind me that this kind of value or worth is not something to be given or taken away. It is inherent in each of us, passed down by generations of mothers of mothers of mothers of mothers (as my friend @ginabreedlove says).

May this day be an invitation to reflect on who and what we come from, how we've been shaped and nurtured by all the mothers and how each of us embodies the mother who has the power to give birth to new beginnings and nurture our collective growth and evolution.

The medicine of the womb is intuitive, and cyclical dancing through creation, birth, and death in a current that is never-ending, forever flowing, flowering, blossoming, and eventually decaying back into the earth and ethers. But so many of us have become disconnected from our bodies and stuck in our heads rationalizing, intellectualizing, strategizing and “being busy.” By parking our bodies the spaces of “doing”, we have lost touch with our own deeper, instinctual knowing.

Healing the wounded feminine requires us to unpack and unlearn all that we’ve accumulated along the way: limiting beliefs, habitual patterns, negative thoughts – so that we can break down the barriers and breakthrough to freedom. Through dynamic movement practice, radical reflection and conversation, rituals of remembering and reclaiming, space to imagine better and dream bigger, we will develop the courage and capacity to not just meet this moment with skill and compassion but become powerful catalysts of change.

WOMB is a ritual and retreat for women who are ready to own their power and place in the world. Our journey will be held in a desert oasis, nourished by plant based meals and, guided by rituals of remembering and reclaiming and supported in collective practice and solidarity. This is a retreat of reclaiming ourselves and rediscovering our inherent power as creatives, catalysts and change makers. It's honoring our needs, knowing our boundaries, and taking care of ourselves so that we can show up in ways that we know we are capable of.
