On Wednesday, Rep. Ted Lieu took Fox News to task for allowing GOP Rep. Devin Nunes to spread his anti-science propaganda on the air unchecked.
Nunes called school closings "overkill" and said we should all get "back to work" in a week, despite a consensus among medical experts and even the White House that the timeline is significantly longer.
But Fox News announced that it "finished the quarter with its largest audience in network history" and was "the most-watched network among all of basic cable for the 15th straight quarter, averaging 1.9 million total day viewers." And a Pew Research poll last week showed 79% of Americans who get most of their news from Fox say the media "exaggerated the risks posed by the pandemic" and could be misinformed about the origin of the outbreak, how best to treat it, and how long it will last.
