Happy Earth Day, john!

Every Earth Day, we are reminded of the incredible nature that surrounds us here in our district. From Lake Sammamish to the Wenatchee Valley, our district has beauty like no other. Yet today is also a stark reminder of how our changing climate affects the lands we hold dear.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen destructive wildfires become all too common, new diseases affecting crops and trees like never before, and warmer temperatures bringing drastic changes to our tributaries and causing species extinction. It’s clear: climate change is one of the greatest threats of our time.

Kim knows the dangers of climate change, and she’s used her voice in Congress to advocate for legislation that will address the needs of our environment. In fact, she helped pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act which included provisions to make our forests more resilient to wildfires, protect our rivers and streams, and more. She has advocated for the permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund and has cosponsored legislation that would ensure a safe and secure water supply for Central Washington during drought years. But she knows there’s still more work to be done.

Kim is ready to keep fighting to protect our public lands, reduce carbon emissions and find safe, sustainable solutions to our most pressing climate challenges, but she can’t do it alone. On this Earth Day, we’re calling on our best grassroots supporters to join Kim in the fight to protect our planet each and every day.
