Happy Earth Day to all! Today serves as a reminder for us to renew our
commitment to addressing the most pressing issue of our times: the climate
crisis.

Here in California, we've witnessed an alarming increase in wildfires,
heatwaves, droughts, and intense storms that have wreaked havoc on our
communities. It's not just a California issue; we're seeing extreme weather
patterns across the nation, with warmer states facing unprecedented cold snaps
and colder states enduring soaring temperatures. This pattern is simply
unsustainable.

I’m proud of my impressive track record in climate action. I’ve consistently
supported legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, invest in renewable
energy infrastructure, and promote sustainable farming practices. My leadership
on climate issues has been instrumental in driving forward-thinking policies at
the federal level. I’ve also consistently received a 100% score from the League
of Conservation Voters, and each year, I’m proud to lead our Earth Day
Resolution in Congress, which not only honors Earth Day but holds elected
officials accountable for failing to adequately protect the health of people
and the natural environment.

Throughout my tenure in Congress, I've been dedicated to confronting climate
change head-on. Serving on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and as
Co-Chair of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), I've
prioritized initiatives to advance the clean energy economy in Sacramento. My
goal is to position our city as a global leader in the clean energy sector and
facilitate our region's transition to renewable energy sources.

This approach not only reduces carbon emissions but also fosters job growth,
providing good-paying opportunities for Sacramento residents and Americans
nationwide.

As I continue my legislative efforts in Congress, I pledge to remain a
steadfast champion for clean energy and environmental protection. This Earth
Day, let's all reaffirm our commitment to combating climate change and creating
a sustainable future for generations to come.
