Folks, happy Earth Day!
Today, we celebrate this once-in-a-galaxy planet we call home, and recommit ourselves to its protection.
Because the truth is, we’re all stakeholders in the future of humankind.
And – at the risk of sounding like a snake-oil salesman – investing in our planet is the only investment that’s not only guaranteed to yield results in our lifetimes; It’ll also guarantee a livable planet for generations to come.
The stock market is great, but it can’t beat those odds.
That’s why I’m hoping you’ll make an Earth Day investment in everything from clean energy to ecological protection to climate innovation. I’m counting on your support to continue making progress for the planet.
It’s important to remember that although the climate crisis is dire, we ARE making progress.
- Last year, wind and solar energy generated more power than coal for the first time ever!
- We passed the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate investment in U.S. history, with billions earmarked for clean energy development.
- A new EPA rule will achieve an 80% drop in methane emissions over the next 15 years.
- A third of Americans are now reducing their use of plastic products.
And that brings me to my final point: Contrary to what some Republicans want you to believe, bold climate action isn’t some fantastical pipe dream.
Climate progress isn’t limited by the laws of physics or the laws of economics. It’s only limited by the laws of the United States. And the good news is that those can be changed, so long as our leaders are up to the task.
So, on this Earth Day, I’m asking you to stand up as part of our growing Climate Majority that will meet this challenge with the dedication and innovation it requires. Will you pitch in $25 to build a sustainable future for generations to come?
