This threat is serious, Friend. On Friday, the Senate rejected an effort to thwart the Biden-Harris administration’s historic standards to limit emissions from cars — currently the leading source of greenhouse gases in the U.S. — on our roads and highways. But the next time legislation to block the cleaner cars rule comes up in the Senate, Big Oil and their extreme allies will need just 50 votes to win instead of 60, and despite losing this time, they had 52 votes on their side on Friday. Truth is, we need to ratchet up the pressure on swing Senators if we want to win the next vote, too. If these and other extreme attempts to block action to combat climate change move forward, our health and climate will suffer for generations.
