Earth Day not only honors the progress the environmental movement has made over the past 5 decades but is our opportunity to continue raising awareness of the need to protect our planet for future generations.
It’s no secret that the threat of climate change is ever-growing. Scientists agree that global temperatures are rising because of human activity.
Across the world, many communities are experiencing the effects of climate change. We’ve seen it here in the U.S. — violent tropical storms, heatwaves, wildfires, and flooding.
It's crystal clear: We need urgent action on climate change at the federal level now.
So today — on Earth Day — I am asking you to stand with me and send a clear message about where you stand on this issue.
Taking action on climate change is about protecting our planet for generations to come. But it is also an opportunity for innovation and to boost our economy — putting millions of people back to work in jobs that pay a living wage.
But taking on the climate crisis is going to require all of us, which is why it's so important that we show we're in this together.
