(It’s Earth Day)

John,

The list of reasons we have to kick Mike Simpson out of Congress just grew a little longer.

A supporter in Idaho Falls sent me a photo of a letter they received from Simpson’s D.C. office a few months ago, in which he brags about GUTTING funding for the Environmental Protection Agency.

“My FY24 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill PASSED the House. This bill slashes the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Budget by 39%” Simpson wrote.

A graphic featuring a photo of Rep. Mike Simpson and the letter received by one of his constituents. The letter is on official House of Representatives stationary.

Simpson also praises himself for including a repeal of Biden’s Waters of the United States rule. If this bill passed the Senate, it would limit the scope of the Clean Water Act and re-implement the deregulation policies of the Trump administration.

Put simply, Simpson wants to allow corporations to pollute more of our wetlands.

Despite years of worsening climate catastrophes, environmental regulations are at the top of Republicans’ hitlist – right under women’s bodily autonomy and workers’ rights.

When we help flip the House for Democrats in November, you can count on me to prioritize policies that protect our families and our planet – not corporate profits and fossil fuel executives.

John, this campaign is our only shot at stopping Mike Simpson from carrying the torch for Republican extremists and mega donors. Can you help me kick him out this year so I can get to work for Idaho and the country?

It’s no secret that Republicans like Simpson are okay with polluting our clean air and water and risking our health and safety for their own agenda.

Just last month, nearly every GOP governor joined a lawsuit with corporate interest groups to block a Biden policy that would decrease deadly soot pollution and save thousands of lives over the next few years.

And let’s not forget that when Trump took office, one of the first things he did was strip any acknowledgement of climate change from every government agency's website.

Americans deserve leadership that will fight to PREVENT climate crises and the environmental damage that leads to them, but the truth is it’s too late for that.

We’ve already been exposed to record-breaking, deadly heat waves, hurricanes that have left thousands dead and uprooted thousands more lives, and the list goes on.

That’s why we have to elect leaders who will fight to combat the climate emergency that is already here, with the seriousness and urgency this threat calls for.

We should not have to live at the intersection of a livable planet and a booming economy when we can have both.

Thank you for your support.

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
