DNR Responds To USFWS Draft Ruling On Lake Sturgeon

MADISON, Wis. ? The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is aware of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service?s (USFWS) announcement today of the 12-month finding on a petition to list lake sturgeon as an endangered or threatened species. The notification of petition finding identifies that the listing of lake sturgeon as an endangered or threatened species is not warranted at this time.
The DNR is reviewing this finding and will continue to follow the sturgeon management practices outlined in the Wisconsin Sturgeon Management Plan.
