Happy Earth Day, John!
Earth Day isn't just about appreciating our planet – it's a rallying cry for action.
As a scientist, I've spent my career delving into the mysteries of our world and researching ways to protect our planet and increase access to affordable energy.
Fighting for our environment isn't something new for me – it's been part of my research and advocacy for years. At Stony Brook, my research lab worked to create new organic semiconductors and studied how to make solar energy more affordable and attainable for Long Islanders. While I was chair of the chemistry department at Stony Brook, my department secured over $22 million in funding from the US Department of Energy for two research centers on battery storage. I’ve also been advocating for pro-environment policies as a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists.
I can't sit idly by while extreme members of our own government wage a war on science. That's why I'm running for Congress. When science is sidelined, harmful policies are enacted – which means we all suffer.
I will always fight for comprehensive policies that confront the threat of climate change head-on, protect our natural environment, and help develop cleaner, cheaper energy to lower costs. If you're ready to elect a pro-science, common-sense leader this November, chip in $10, or whatever you can to help me build a winning campaign. >>
Thank you,
Nancy
