For six years, I have had the pleasure of serving in the House of Representatives alongside Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez.  

As you know, Nydia is a force to be reckoned with. In my early days in Congress, Nydia welcomed me with open arms. Together, we stood up against the Trump administration – from fighting for the health and safety of migrant children and families to fighting against the rollback of coal ash safety standards. I have experienced the passionate determination of Nydia’s leadership and watched her stand tough for democracy and freedom. 

That’s why I am excited to take the Amtrak north next week, heading from Maryland to Brooklyn to celebrate Nydia’s Birthday!
