Hi Friend,
Happy Earth Day! I’m honored to count you as a supporter of Population Connection. Thank you for sharing our commitment to a sustainable future.
Peer-reviewed research finds that we can get between 37 and 41 percent of needed greenhouse gas emissions reductions by stabilizing global population. While you and I know that ending rapid population growth is a key solution to the climate crisis, most climate advocates flatly refuse to acknowledge that it plays a major role.
It’s time to end this glaring omission about the links between population growth and climate-altering emissions. It’s time to stop ignoring the fact that reproductive autonomy leads to smaller families, and that smaller families are key to meeting the climate challenge.
Women deserve better. Future generations deserve better. Our natural world deserves better. Today, as we celebrate Earth Day, I’m hopeful that, together, we can finally end the silence about the connections between climate change and overpopulation.
I hope you can celebrate this day by spending some time outside, appreciating our beautiful natural world in whatever capacity is available to you.
Thank you again for working alongside us in the fight for a stable global population. I appreciate your support this Earth Day and every day.
