Dear Friend,
Happy Earth Day! From our Great Lakes to our expansive forests, Michiganders are lucky to be surrounded by incredible natural resources. We must do everything we can to protect and preserve our air, land, and lakes for future generations.
That?s why I?m proud of the progress we?ve made to become a leader in the future of clean energy and climate action. Last year, I signed a game-changing package of clean energy legislation that enacted a 100% clean energy standard by 2040, efficiency upgrades to lower costs for consumers, and building American energy using American workers.
We have made big strides towards the MI Healthy Climate Plan, ?to address climate change head-on, lower costs for Michiganders, ensure every Michigan worker has a good-paying, sustainable job, and every family has clean air, water, and a home powered by clean, reliable energy.
Our commitment to tackling climate action while creating jobs and lowering costs will make a real difference in people?s lives. With the help of our friends at EGLE, this last year has been the most productive one yet. Michigan is leading the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.
To?celebrate Earth Day, I encourage Michiganders to get involved! Create a plan for your family to start or continue recycling, picking up trash around your neighborhood, or go for a bike ride to enjoy the fresh air.
Together we can build a brighter, healthier future for Michigan, with clean air, clean water, and clean energy!
