Keeping Your Business Cybersecure During COVID-19

This month’s Small Business Roundtable will focus on what the threats are right now, and how you can try to keep your company and employees secure as they work remotely. One of the biggest changes from a technical perspective is how one secures their business in this new era of telework being the norm. This event will inform attendees of the COVID-19 related malware, phishing, and other threats that have skyrocketed with thousands of domains registered and new threats seen daily.

To help Arlington’s businesses deliver food to our community and maintain social distancing, the County Manager announced that Arlington County will not be enforcing the following Zoning Ordinance provisions and site plan/use permit conditions for commercial retail, restaurant, or building uses:
  • Drive-thru facilities
  • Food Delivery Service (groceries, food and beverages to off-site locations)
  • Parking lot/Sidewalk sales associated with retail/restaurant establishments
  • On-site signage at retail and restaurants establishments indicating the availability of pick up
  • County Board approved loading dock hours with special exception site plans and use permits

The ongoing coronavirus public health crisis has pushed the U.S. economy into an uncharted economic downturn, with lightning speed. By some estimates, the country’s gross domestic production is expected to shrink by anywhere from 12.4% to as much as 40% in the second quarter, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Resulting workforce management questions are numerous, including employee wage and continuation of benefits requirements for employees.
