Friend,
Michigan is blessed with the beauty of the Great Lakes, stunning natural landscapes, and abundant natural resources. As a proud member of a family that values conservation, I have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, the beauty of the Great Lakes and our state’s stunning natural landscapes.
Preserving our environment and ensuring the safety of our state and our families is of utmost importance to me.
So I was deeply alarmed by this news that our most cherished natural landscapes are becoming junk drawers while John James sits on the House’s top environmental committee:
James has been a wolf in the hen house from day one, speaking out against keeping the Great Lakes under the guidance of the Clean Waters Act – an act specifically designed to reduce the types of runoffs plaguing these beaches – and opposing past legislation that included $300 million for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
We can’t have one of the biggest prides of our state undermined by Koch dollars.
Sign your name today to demand that Congress stand up for our Great Lakes, our waterways, and our environment. It’s literally their job, and if they won’t do it then it’s time to go.
Unlike James, I am a staunch defender of our Great Lakes. Family time on the water is a pastime for thousands of Michiganders, and I will fight for policies that protect and preserve our Great Lakes for future generations.
But until November, we have to work with who we have. And that’s an empty suit with an empty smile who will allow our waters to be turned to trash bins as long as the checks continue to roll in.
That’s why we have to hold him to account now. So on this Earth Day, tell Congress we want actual efforts to protect our Great Lakes.
Thank you, John, for your unwavering support to our natural environment. And Happy Earth Day!
