Hi

My name is Guy Cammilleri. I strongly believe that our democracy should be fair, inclusive and representative of every American.

That’s why I’m putting up a $50,000 matching gift to support efforts to repeal closed primaries in South Dakota this year.

I’m deeply passionate about advancing democracy and empowering communities through electoral reform and voting accessibility. I currently serve on the boards of directors of the RCV Resource Center, The California RCV Coalition, and the advisory board of Rank The Vote.

You might be asking yourself “Ok Guy, but why South Dakota?”

South Dakota has all the elements in place for enacting real, meaningful reform: a deeply-connected and diverse community of reform and campaign leaders who represent the full spectrum of South Dakotans, a growing electorate of independent voters (nearly 1 in 4 right now!) and most importantly an appetite from voters of all backgrounds to change a wildly out of touch system. Early polling shows it significantly outperforming in support compared to the current (closed) system.

A win in South Dakota is a win for our entire movement and helps our chances of enacting reform in other states. This is one of the biggest opportunities the open primaries movement has in 2024.

It’s my sincere hope today you will join me and give (significantly!) to help us get this campaign in front of every voter in the state. If you give $100, I give $100. So, You can give directly to the campaign committee or to the Open Primaries Education Fund.  Both are doing incredible outreach and organizing in South Dakota.

But I want to go beyond asking you to just donate–I want to hear from you. Connecting with other enthusiastic reformers is deeply inspiring to me and important in encouraging and instructing the work I do around the country, so after you donate–shoot me an email at [email protected].

I genuinely want to know more about how this issue is connecting with fellow pro-democracy reformers and voters across the country.

Thanks for listening, donating and I look forward to hearing from you,

Guy Cammilleri
