JOHN,

When the first Earth Day was observed in 1970, 20 million Americans gathered at events across the country to show their support for environmental causes. Soon after, the United States created the Environmental Protection Agency and passed monumental laws like the Clean Air Act of 1970.

Fifty-four years later, we can proudly point to the Biden administration’s many accomplishments in fighting climate change, most notably in the Inflation Reduction Act. Signed into law in August 2022, it’s the boldest, most comprehensive climate legislation our country has ever seen.

And yet, we still face an existential crisis. Our planet is ailing, and we’re not doing enough to heal it.

I’ve been a champion of environmental protection throughout my career. In 1994, I was the first prosecutor to address sewage discharge into Lake St. Clair and hold polluters accountable for their actions. My commitment to protecting our state’s precious natural resources has never wavered.

John James, on the other hand, actually voted to allow oil drilling in our glorious Great Lakes, something that should be inconceivable to any true Michigander.

We simply can’t afford another year with Republicans at the helm in the House – ignoring climate change and allowing corporations and special interests to continue devastating our planet.

On this Earth Day, I hope you’ll make a contribution to my campaign. With your help, Democrats can take full control of Washington and steer our nation toward a better, more sustainable future.
