Not a lot of people know this about me, friend, but I'm a bona fide Scrabble fanatic. When I'm home from a busy week, you'll find Connie and me out on our deck fully engrossed in a game. Sometimes our rescue dogs Franklin and Walter join in – but I'll be honest, their spelling is a little "ruff." 

Another thing most people don't know is that Scrabble harkens back to the Great Depression. It was developed by an unemployed architect, and the first Scrabble factory was in an old schoolhouse in rural Connecticut where they produced 12 games an hour. The chairman of Macy's came across the game while on vacation, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Scrabble's success story reminds me of the American dream and all of the reasons our fight for the Dignity of Work is so important. The 1930s were a tough time for our country, but Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal and several important advances for the labor movement came out of that period: better hours, a guaranteed minimum wage, and the right to unionize.

I'm fighting every day in the Senate to make sure progress for workers never stops – but I need your help to keep it up. Mitch McConnell and the GOP are all in to defeat me because this race could decide Senate control – so I'm counting on folks like you to help me compete.

Right now, I'm falling short of my midnight fundraising goal, and I need a triple word score to turn things around. Will you chip in $5, $10, or any amount so I can hit my goal, win, and keep the Senate blue?
