#DCYRGivesHope to Senior Citizens in Need
As DC battles the Coronavirus Pandemic, we ask our members to consider those in the community who are at the highest risk: our Senior Citizens. Elderly adults make up over 10% of DC's total population and are being asked to stay home. Many are without access to basic food and medication, all while suffering from the effects of isolation. They are inadvertently more at-risk to suffer from health complications due to loneliness and depression, which can lead to weakened immune systems.
To take a stand against Coronavirus and support our Senior Citizens, DCYRs are supporting Capital Caring Health, the region's largest non-profit palliative and hospice care provider dedicated to our community's most vulnerable, including low-income seniors and children receiving pediatric care at home. Your contribution will go towards providing meals, supplies, and needed relief for shut-in Seniors bearing the brunt of this crisis. All donations will go directly to Capital Caring and are fully tax-deductible.
The DCYRs ask for any contribution towards our goal of $2,500.
Donation levels:
- $8 will provide a meal for a Senior Citizen in need.
- $22 will provide a full day of meals for a Senior Citizen in need.
- $50 will provide a Senior Citizen in need with groceries for one week.
- $55 will provide a child receiving pediatric care with comfort items and live-saving food.
