It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C.

I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to advocating for your priorities, my team and I are always here to help.

Fighting for Border Security

 As a 20-year Navy veteran, I will always fight to safeguard our national security, both at home and abroad.

This week, I voted in favor of the End the Border Catastrophe Act. This legislation would have closed asylum loopholes, reinforced border security infrastructure, and delivered more resources to enforce against illegal immigration.

As usual though, partisan politics got in the way, keeping many of my colleagues from voting yes. While this legislation failed on the House floor, I will continue to focus on enacting legislation that secures our border.

Deterring our Foreign Adversaries 



After the 9/11 terrorist attacks—I served in Iraq and Afghanistan to combat the rise in global terrorism that threatened America and our allies.  

Today, these threats are resurfacing and becoming more critical. That is why I supported legislation this week that supports our allies in their fight against nations that despise America and what we stand for.

Peace through strength is how we stop the escalation of global conflicts from harming Americans in our own backyard.

Combating Dangerous Gang Activity

During this week's House Homeland Security Committee hearing, I pressed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the Biden administration's plan to combat Tren de Aragua.

Tren de Aragua is a dangerous gang that started in the Venezuelan prison system, and these bad actors have now made their way to the United States.

I will continue to work hard on legislation to stop drug and human traffickers in their tracks.

Supporting South Texas Veterans

I'll always stand up for our veterans to ensure they have the best quality of care. A new VA hospital in San Antonio is long overdue. Last year, I helped secure funding to begin planning for the construction of a new VA hospital in South Texas.

VA Secretary Denis McDonough visited Audie Murphy VA Medical Center with me over the summer. It was important for me to get him in front of our community and see our need for new healthcare infrastructure.

This week, I urged Secretary McDonough for an update on this important initiative for veterans in our region.
