John, last week was Tax Day for the vast majority of people in the United States, but was it really Tax Day for billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos?
We’re witnessing a historic crisis of greed in this country. A mere 0.1% of Americans – the billionaire class of Musk, Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jamie Dimon – hoards $20,000,000,000,000, or 14% of all the wealth in America! And it’s not us just who’ve been talking about the likes of Bezos and Zuckerberg:
While the ultra-rich have watched their fortunes swell, the vast majority of us have seen our slice of the American dream shrink. That’s exactly why we need to tax millionaires and billionaires right now so that they pay their fair share into Medicare, Social Security, public education, the fight against climate change, and much much more.
Add your name: Congress must pass the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act to make millionaires and billionaires pay up before the next Tax Day!
Representative Pramila Jayapal and Senator Elizabeth Warren’s Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act would apply a 2% tax on the wealth of families with holdings between $50 million and $1 billion, and a 3% tax on billionaires. This is an urgent and necessary measure to not only force the rich to pay their fair share, but also to make sure the social safety net has the critical funding we need.
The bill would bring in enough revenue to take Social Security and Medicare off the chopping block forever, and begin to end the outrageous concentration of wealth in the hands of the few.
Add your name: Tax the rich now to end the outrageous tax breaks and loopholes that millionaires and billionaires get away with every year.
When we organize, we win.
